Vampire: The Masquerade — Sins of the Sires is a post-apocalypse horror role-playing game set within the universe of the World of Darkness, published by White Wolf in the 2000s. Sins of the Sires, or simply the Sires, was designed and produced by Modiphius Entertainment. The Sires is a group of blood drinkers, the “most bloodthirsty life form on the planet”, who work for the titular Nephilim, a group of vampire antagonists who in the game’s story resides in space.
The main characters of Sins of the Sires, the victims of the various investigators of the Players of the Game, are traveling in a world in the aftermath of a devastating nuclear war. Due to worldwide devastation, almost all of humanity has died, leaving the survivors to fight for their lives and win back the post-apocalyptic reality they are trying to reclaim.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Sins of the Sires takes place long before the American Revolution of 1776, and before The Enlightenment of 1789. At the beginning of the game, after a nuclear war, the United States of America is severely crippled by a devastated and war-torn nation. War veterans and those who survived the war are filled with anger and hatred towards the dead and the living. However, these people also have an intense need for human contact, for family, for sex. Meanwhile, the mass procreation in the early twentieth century during the American Civil War has ended and birth rates have plummeted to almost zero. Couples are planning to have a child before they even start a relationship or get married. As a result, there are way more Vampire than human survivors; however, these survivors are spread out all over the world. Life is more uneasy than before, with the perils from city life and the rulers of their respective nations looming around everywhere.
Through a minor problem in the last days of the American Civil War, a conflict inside the United States ensues. With Western Bloc in a turmoil, the survivors of the two Americas reunite when the curtain rises on the Western Front.
Sins of the Sires was critically acclaimed both for its high production values and the brilliant original story.
